We would like to take a moment to reflect on the current market situation in the transport sector. Even though the total volume of goods to be transported is probably not much more than at the end of last year or the beginning of this year, we have noticed a big shortage of free vehicles on the market. This has as result, that loads are difficult or impossible to execute and prices are going through the roof.
Where during the Covid period we saw an excess of cars on the market, often at dumping prices, we now see a severe shortage of available cars. We have noticed that many transporters have also stopped transporting to and from Belgium since the introduction of the new phase of the Mobility Package.
This, combined with the current economic situation in which basic goods, wages, energy prices, etc. are becoming increasingly expensive, is causing transport prices to rise extremely high.
With the holiday period just around the corner, we can only recommend that you order your transport in time.
